Lemon Bay Woman's Club
Welcome to Lemon Bay Woman's Club! We are an active part of the Englewood community.
Our annual Thanksgiving dinner, a wonderful potluck meal, was held the Friday before the big day. We outdid ourselves this year, in the humble opinion of this writer. The club provides turkeys, baked by Mary Ellen and her committee, and everything else just magically shows up. There were specialties, and one-offs, and selections from our cookbook.
Here is the committee, responsible for gathering all this together, serving and cleaning up afterwards (and yes, they did get a chance to eat!):

Join us for our second Dinner at the Club! Our chef, local caterer Sam Salvino, has come up with a great Italian-style menu; your choice of Stuffed Shells, Fettuccine Alfredo with Grilled Chicken, or Fettuccine Primavera. Meals include Caesar Salad, Coffee or Water, and Dessert. The price is $12 and tickets must be purchased in advance. Call Sam at 224-6617 for reservations or more information. Our new cookbook, The Flavor of Lemon Bay, is in! It's got almost 400 recipes from club members, our friends and our family. We'll publish the occasional teaser recipe here or on our Facebook page, so be sure to return here now & then. Stop by the clubhouse to see it in real life and to purchase.
The club has a quilt frame for sale. It's a neat portable one, by the Grace Company. For information, please go to their website. The price is $200. Please call or e-mail the club or call Sue Burgess.
Our Regular Events
Bunko - Once a month the Club hosts a Bunko Party. We gather on the last Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. for an evening of this popular dice game (which can be learned as you play, it's really that simple) interspersed with lots of laughter, comaraderie and even some snacks. It's $5 for the evening and you may go home with some a dollar or two in your pocket! E-mail Barbara, bltrumble -at- gmail.com, if you'd like to join in.
Business Meetings - Held on the first Friday of the month, October through April. October's is the Fall Luncheon, with reservations required.
Game Day - These are held mostly on a monthly basis, 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Please check the calendar for dates. The featured game this time around is unknown by this writer but I'm sure it's something fun! This is yet another of Nancy's clever ideas to keep you both on your toes and laughing. There's also time to sit down and play a game of your choice; we have board games available and you are welcome to bring your own, or if you'd rather play a game of cards, bring your friends and we'll provide your table.
Line Dancing - Every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. It's fun. We have a personable and knowledgeable instructor in Harry! Come have a lot of laughs and make new friends. Open to the public—both men and women. It's only $3.00! Call 941 474-9762 for information or check the calendar for details.
Zumba! Each Monday and Wednesday evening, Ricki is leading a Zumba aerobics class from 6 to 7 p.m. at the LBWC House. What is Zumba, you ask? Well, they probably say it best themselves:

So, grab your water bottle, five bucks, comfortable workout clothes (if they're brightly colored, all the better) and your sneakers and join us! Everyone welcome, member or not.
The Dessert Card Party schedule varies; in summer it's usually the 2nd and 4th Fridays and in season once a month on a given Friday, from noon to 3 p.m. Exact dates are on the calendar. Each table plays its choice of card game. Iced tea, coffee, and wonderful desserts are included. They are each $3.00 and reservations are required—sign up at the clubhouse or call 474-9762 for reservations or information; please leave a message and the committee chair will call you back. Bring your good luck and a couple of dollars for the 50-50 drawing! Open to all women, whether members or not, and for the same low fee!

The club sponsors many local charities including Clothes Closet, Suncoast Humane Society, Project Graduation, Englewood Meals on Wheels, Inc., Englewood Helping Hands, Inc., Women's Resource Center, Dollars for Mammograms, Canine Companions, Toys for Englewood, Fish of Englewood, and a Scholarship to a student or students each year at Lemon Bay High School.
